SICK NOTE INFORMATION FROM 20th MARCH 2020

Those who have COVID-19 (Corona Virus) or advised to self-isolate will be able to obtain an isolation note by visiting NHS 111 online and completing an online form rather than contacting a GP.  For COVID 19 cases this replaces the usual need to provide a "fit note" after seven days of sickness absence.  Isolation notes will also be accepted by Jobcentre Plus as evidence of your inability to attend.

This will help during the Cornavirus outbreak as it cuts down visiting the surgery.

Changes to Phlebotomy (blood tests)

Changes to Blood Tests Locations Bournemouth and Christchurch

As part of an initiative to bring GP requested blood tests closer to home, The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (RBCH) has been working with Dorset CCG and local GP surgeries to make this happen. This is an initiative that has been an aspiration for a number of years following patient feedback and the good practice that occurs in the rest of the county where patients can access blood tests in their own surgeries.

What this means in terms of where you can get blood tests taken:

Q. Where can I get my routine blood tests?
Ans. You can access routine blood tests at your local GP surgery. Until July 2019 you can still go to Royal Bournemouth Hospital. To book an appointment please phone 01202 704785.

Q. Will Christchurch Hospital still do some blood tests?
Ans. Yes, Christchurch Hospital will continue to do blood tests, but only for Hospital generated requests and patients with a booked appointment for a Warfarin (INR) blood test.

Q. My GP surgery does my Warfarin (INR) blood tests. Can I continue to go there for these tests?
Ans. No. All of our patients are managed by RBCH Anticoagulant Clinic and will need to attend Bournemouth or Christchurch Hospital please contact the warfarin clinic on 01202 704778 between 09.30-12.30 and request an appointment.

Q. Where will under 16 years have their blood tests?
Ans. This will remain at Poole Hospital
